Zynga today announced that it has acquired Echtra Games, a cross-platform game studio. The change came after an internal discussion within the developer resulting in the original 2019 release date being postponed and the step away from a free-to-play aspect. The former studio, which recently released Torchlight III. Originally an MMO called Torchlight Frontiers, Torchlight 3 was announced early in 2020 as the game's direction was changed back into a more familiar Torchlight experience. Torchlight 3 is currently in early access on Steam and there no word on if this is an indication of a full release of the game or if the early access version will be made available on the Nintendo Switch.
